Our Mission Cats in the Cradle
Cats in the Cradle, Inc. is a no-kill, all-volunteer, 501(3)© non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of feral, stray and special needs cats and kittens. We believe all cats and kittens deserve the chance to live a life that is free of hunger, fear, pain and disease. We strive to ensure the cats and kittens in our care receive nutritious food, exemplary medical care and an abundance of affection until they are placed in loving permanent homes.
CITC History
Cats in the Cradle, Inc. (CITC) is the culmination of over six years of rescue work aimed specifically at saving the lives of as many cats and kittens as possible and finding permanent homes for them in the North Georgia area. To date, CITC has been able to make a difference in the lives of over 3,500 cats and kittens and has been actively involved in efforts aimed at achieving “zero population growth” by spaying and neutering all cats and kittens before adoption. CITC and its foster homes routinely house and care for 150 cats and kittens at any given time.
Some Facts
There are over 60 million homeless cats and kittens in the United States and these numbers are growing every day. One unaltered female cat is capable of producing at least 2 litters of kittens each year. Left unchecked, her successive offspring will breed exponentially, producing over 1 million kittens in only 10 years time! Most cats and kittens euthanized in shelters are victims of overpopulation and shouldn’t have to die simply because they were born. Every cat and kitten CITC alters keeps countless offspring from being born; thereby helping to save the lives of cats that are already here.
